Hi,

I was asked by Stephen to put together (by Friday) a list of what Mauro will needs to accomplish
during his visit to Fermilab. Here is a list that I put together, please make any corrections or add
any items you see fit and return.

BTeV objectives for Mauro Marinelli

Interface with the Beams Division and understand the vacuum and beam characteristic requirements and
how they impact the BTeV pixel detector vacuum chamber design.

Understand the basic physics of the BTeV pixel detector and the relationship of the mechanical
design and the physic requirements. Understand how the mechanical design impacts the vacuum system.

Understand the total gas load and the pumping speed requirements of the BTeV detector.

Understand the physical limitations for adding vacuum pumps to the BTeV detector and identify unique
ways of improve the pumping speed.

Understand the temperature limitations of the Pixel detector and look at lowering the overall
temperature of the detector to reduce the outgassing.

Identify and convey possible improvements or problems of the design of the BTeV detector as it
pertains to the vacuum system.
