Yearly Competitions

Nominations for the Yearly Competitions are selected by the host Center for the technologies. Both of the Yearly Competitions require the submission of a Form 1329 Board Award Questionnaire, or a 1329A Re-evaluation form, in addition to other documentation as noted below.

NASA Invention of the Year (IOY):

The NASA General Counsel selects the NASA Invention of the Year Award, which is supported by the ICB with technical assistance, publicity, and monetary awards. Awards can be given in the Government and Commercial categories and each Center may submit up to two nominations. The call letter for the 2008 competition will go out in the fall of 2008.

NASA Software of the Year (SOY):

The ICB supports the Office of the Chief Engineer, the Office of the NASA Chief Information Officer, and the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance who co-sponsor the selection of the NASA Software of the Year Award. A special Software Advisory Panel reviews documentation and presentations for Center nominations and recommends winners to the ICB.
