CBP Border Patrol Loses One of Their Own Border Patrol Agent Falls in the Line of Duty, the 4th in Just Over a Year

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agent George DeBates lost his life yesterday evening in a single vehicle accident while patrolling an area of the border near Ajo, Arizona. A veteran of over four years, Agent DeBates was a graduate of Border Patrol Academy Class 403 and had worked at both Casa Grande and Nogales Border Patrol Stations. He was 32-years-old. Agent DeBates is the fourth CBP Border Patrol agent to die in the line of duty since December 16, 2003. U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control, and protection of our Nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
