CBP Officers in N.Y. Arrest U.S. Citizen Wanted in Virginia

Massena, N.Y. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced the arrest of a United States citizen wanted for indecent liberties with a child.

CBP officers yesterday encountered Glen Gordon, a 56-year-old United States citizen from Potsdam, New York, as he applied for admission into the United States at the Massena, N.Y. port of entry. Gordon advised the primary CBP officer that he was returning after visiting family in Cornwall, Ontario. A primary name query revealed that Gordon may be the subject of an active felony arrest warrant out of Virginia.

Additional record checks performed by CBP during a secondary inspection revealed that Gordon was in fact the subject of a nation-wide felony warrant issued on October 30 by the Chesapeake City, Va. Police Department. The warrant charges Gordon with taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in custodial or supervisory relationship.

CBP officers verified the validity of the warrant and confirmed extradition. Gordon was then arrested and turned over to New York State Police pending extradition to Virginia.

“This fugitive apprehension was the direct result of CBP’s effort to increase the number of name queries during primary inspections at land border crossings, while still efficiently processing legitimate trade and travelers.” stated James T. Engleman, CBP director of field operations for the Buffalo area.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
