Clovis, New Mexico Receives $1 Million in Federal Funds

Clovis, N.M. -- U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Matthew E. Crow and U.S. Representative Tom Udall today presented a $1 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) investment check to the city of Clovis, N.M. The investment will help build infrastructure improvements to serve the Clovis Industrial Park and is expected to generate $118 million in private investment and create 267 new jobs.

“America’s competitiveness and innovation flourish in vibrant, economically growing communities that are creating jobs and opportunities,” said Crow. “This investment will help build a rail spur and other infrastructure improvements to serve the Clovis Industrial Park; facilitate long-term industrial business development in Clovis and Curry County.”

“This grant will help ensure that future generations of Clovis residents can live and work and prosper in their own communities,” said U.S. Representative Tom Udall. “It will help Clovis create its own economic base and control its own destiny. And it will put Eastern New Mexico to work building an energy economy that works for all Americans.”

EDA serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the United States. EDA’s mission is to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy.
