WING AEROSPACE EDUCATION PLAN OF ACTION

CALENDAR YEAR 2008

THREE YEAR PROJECTION 2008-2010

1.   AE PROGRAM FOR SENIOR MEMBERS (AEPSM) (Yeager Award)

GOAL: To increase the number of wing Senior Members completing the AEPSM.

DUE DATE: 31 December 2008

2007 DATA: 10 Senior Members completed AEPSM

MEASURES: # of Senior Members that will have completed the Yeager Award

2008 = 12

2009 = 14

2010 = 16

 

 

2.   AEROSPACE EDUCATION OFFICERS (AEOs)

 

GOAL - 2A:     To increase the total number of Squadron AEOs and Assistants.

DUE DATE:  31 December 2008

2007 DATA:  Wing had 30 AEOs and Assistants in 28 Squadrons

MEASURES: Total Squadron AEOs and Assistants

2008 = 44

2009 = 56

2010 = 60

 

GOAL - 2B: To improve the track 215 ratings of 25 % of present squadron AEOs by one level

DUE DATE: 31 December 2008

2006 DATA: 215T-7, 215S-4, and 215M-1

2007 DATA: 215T-20, 215S-2, and 215M-1 

MEASURE: Maintain an inventory of track 215 rating increases and

                   verify 25 percent or more of the AEOs improve one level (ie.from technician to senior)

2008 = 25%

2009 = 25%

2010 = 25%

 

GOAL – 2C: To increase the total number of Wing and Group AEOs.

DUE DATE: 31 December 2008

2007 DATA: 2 AEOs: Wing DAE and External AEO

3.   AE STAFF VISITS

GOAL: To increase the number of unit visits by AE Directorate personnel

DUE DATE: 31 December 2008

2007 DATA: 3 Wing Aerospace Education Staff Visit Forms were completed and filed

MEASURES: Number of Aerospace Education Staff Visit Forms were completed and filed

2008 = 6

2009 = 9

4.   ACTIVITY REPORTS

GOAL: To increase the number of Squadron Aerospace Education Activity Reports submitted

DUE DATE: 31 December 2008

2007 DATA: 20 Squadron AE Activity Reports were completed and submitted

MEASURES:  Number of AE Activity Reports Filed

2008 = 28

2009 = 28

2010 = 28

 

 

5.   SQUADRON AEX AWARD PROGRAM

GOAL: To increase the number of Wing squadrons participating in the Aerospace

Education Excellence (AEX) Award Program

DUE DATE: 31 December 2008

2007 DATA: Seven squadrons participated

MEASURES: Number of squadrons participating in the AEX Award Program

2008 = 8

2009 = 7

2010 = 12

 

 

6.    AEROSPACE EDUCATION MEMBERS (AEMs)

GOAL: To increase the number of Aerospace Education Members (AEMs) in Virginia.

DUE DATE: 31 December 2008

2007 DATA: 41 teachers participated as AEMs.

MEASURE: Total number of teachers will be recruited and participate as AEMs.

2008 = 45

2009 = 50

2010 = 55

 

 

7.    SCHOOL AEX AWARD PROGRAM

GOAL: To develop more  School Aerospace Education Excellence (AEX) Award Program sites.

DUE DATE: 15 December 2008

2007 DATA: No sites were identified Wing is waiting for notification from CAP NHQ of teachers, grade levels, and school participation

MEASURE: Total number of school AEX sites for the year.

2009 = 4

2010 = 5

 

 

8.    WING CONFERENCE AE SESSION

GOAL: To develop an AE session within the Wing Conference covering AE topics.

DUE DATE: Wing Conference Date

2006 DATA: AE session was held and a sign-in roster was completed

2007 DATA: No AE session was held.

MEASURE: AE breakout session and a sign-in roster who attended the sessions.

9.     NCASE

GOAL: To improve Wing representation at National Conference of Aviation and Space Education

(NCASE)

DUE DATE: 15 April 2008

2006 DATA: Three Virginia Wing Senior Members attended

2007 DATA: No CAP Members attended (NCASE was not sponsored by CAP this Year)

MEASURE: Number of Wing Senior Members and/or other CAP educators will attend 2008 NCASE.

10.   AE AWARDS

GOAL: To submit nominations for AE awards (such as Brewer, Crown Circle and/or Crossfield AE

Teacher) to higher headquarters

DUE DATE: As appropriate considering the due date of award nomination submission

2006 DATA: Two nominations for AE awards were submitted.

2007 DATA: No Nominations for AE awards were submitted.

MEASURE: Number of copies of forwarded nominations placed in AE Directorate files.

11.   WING WEB AE PAGES

GOAL: To construct a invigorating Wing AE web site covering information on AEPSM, AEOs, Track 215 requirements, and AE components (internal and external) of CAP

DUE DATE: 31 Dec 2008

2006 DATA: No additional Wing web AE pages were constructed.

2007 DATA: Additional Web pages were created and maintained.

MEASURE: A fresh, improved, and an up to date AE web site will be available.

12.    AE BULLETIN BOARD/NEWSLETTERS

GOAL: To maintain an AE Bulletin Board at Wing HQ and within the Wing Web Site

MEASURE: A minimum of 6 monthly bulletins available for wing will be published

13.   WING/DOT BOA AGREEMENT

GOAL: To strengthen the partnership between Wing CAP and The State Department of Transportation Bureau of Aeronautics (DOT BOA)

2007 DATA: Wing and DOT BOA reviewed the partnership agreement

MEASURE: Review and If needed, the partnership agreement will be revised

14.    REPORTS TO COMMANDER and WING

GOAL: To maintain the number of reports submitted to Wing Commander and Distributed to Wing

MEASURE: Number of Semi-annual reports using the AE Plan of Action format provided to the

                    Wing Commander for distribution to Wing AEOs

15.   Coordinate with the Science Museum of Virginia in conducting AE WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT the Commonwealth

GOAL: Participate in at least two Workshops bring up to 6 per year.

a. Review Aerospace Education Officers' Handbook and CAPR 280-2

b. Establish Goals

c. Submit the initial plan to the DCS/AE no later than February 1

d. DCS/AE reviews the plan and assists with any necessary revisions

e. The final plan, signed by the wing commander, is forwarded to the DCS/AE by March 1st

f. The DCS/AE reports submissions to region commanders; forwards copy to HQ CAP/LMA by March 15th
