The office is known for its expertise in performing post entry audits of high risk importers, particularly in the area of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The IPR audit serves two primary purposes: 1) to inform the importer of its responsibilities when importing into the United States as per the requirements of the Customs Modernization Act; and 2) to identify and quantify any IPR violations discovered during the post-entry audit.
