Commissioner Bonner Addresses MIT Conference

(10/03/2005)
On September 29, 2005, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Robert C. Bonner delivered the keynote address at the "Resilient and Secure Supply Chain" conference in Boston, Massachusetts. Sponsored by the Center for Transportation and Logistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the conference brought together leaders from government, industry, and academia to explore ways to make companies less vulnerable to disruption.

In his remarks, Commissioner Bonner challenged corporate leaders to assume a leadership role as governments worldwide move to protect global commerce from terrorist attacks. "The trading community must play a very active role in bringing greater security to the global supply chain," said Commissioner Bonner. "In the post 9/11 era, in the age of global terrorism, security of a company's supply chain must be a mandatory topic of discussion in the corporate boardroom."
