Deputy Commissioner Recognizes Employees in Detroit, Mi.

(04/28/2008)
On April 25, 2008, Deputy Commissioner Jayson P. Ahern visited the Detroit Field Office as part of the Mission Appreciation Campaign. The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Director of Field Operations Robert Perez, Chief Patrol Agent Randolph Gallegos, Assistant Chief Counsel Fred Smith, Assistant Field Director Glenyss Ford and Acting Director Detroit Air and Marine Mathew Mills. The ceremony was attended by over 200 employees with representation from Field Operations, Border Patrol, Air and Marine Operations, Chief Counsel, and the Office of International Trade.

The ceremony included the presentation of the colors by a joint Field Operations/Border Patrol Honor Guard, opening remarks and introduction of the Deputy Commissioner by DFO Perez, remarks by the Deputy Commissioner, and the presentation of Service Awards for employees with 20, 25, and 30 years of service. Following the presentation the Deputy Commissioner met CBP personnel and fielded questions from the audience on a one-on-one basis.

An important message the Deputy reiterated to CBP employees was that, "It is not by luck that there have been no subsequent attacks on our homeland. It is because of your efforts, your dedication and your perseverance on the job every hour of every day for the past five years."
