U.S. business delegation and Chamber of Commerce ink MoU

On December 8, 2006 Henry Deneen, Executive Director of the Center for Global Strategies, and Mahfouz Shammakh, Chairman of the Yemeni Chamber of Industry and Commerce, signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) to strengthen relations and explore investment opportunities between the American and Yemeni business communities.

“The visit of the U.S. business delegation is a first step to further boost economic relationships between North Carolina and Yemen,” said Shammakh. “We wish to benefit from the delegation members’ expertise to improve our economy and utilize all opportunities for investment, such as tourism as South Carolina managed to benefit from its natural beautiful places to attract millions of tourists.”

Deneen said that he and Beasley hope to establish a strong relationship with Yemeni businesspeople, and secure a sister city agreement between Aden and Charleston, South Carolina in the next two or three months.
