These tiled ccd-images of the inner coma of comet Hale-Bopp were made at the prime focus of a Celestron C11. Camera was OES LcCCD14 in 2x2 binning mode, exp. time was 5 seconds, no filters were used. The pictures are a combination of 7 images which were dark subtracted, registered and median combined. The second shows the inner parts, log scaled and 4 times zoomed. To enhance details the images are shown in false color at different contrasts.

Images of the Hale-Bopp comet's nuclei were taken with a Meade SCT 10" F10 (FL:2500mm). I used a CCD camera SBIG ST6 and have taken 15 images exposed 1 sec each. All the 15 images were added and processed by unsharp masking and other processing technics. The blue color was added to increase the appearance of the comet and is not the real color of Hale-Bopp.

1. This is an 8-minute exposure on Kodak PPF 400 using a 70-210mm zoom lens wide open at f/4 (surprisingly not too bad!).

2. This 15mm fisheye photo from March 28 features the Zodiacal Light, the comet, and the photographer. Sirius is on the left edge, while Cassiopeia shows up on the right side of the frame. It's a 4-minute exposure on PPF 400 at f/2.8.

First image is a wide field view of Hale Bopp taken using an Aero Ektar lens. Linear feature is a flag pole.... Exposure 4 minutes, taken through a blue filter.

Second image is a 180 second exposure of comet Hale-Bopp. A 12 inch Maksutov telescope, working at a focal ratio of f5 was used with an SBIG ST8 CCD camera and a blue filter.

Third image is a 60 second image of Hale Bopp taken through a blue filter. Fourth image is a A false colour version of the third image.

The first is a 40 second unguided exposure on Fuji 800 Super G, with a fill flash. A Vivitar Series-1 28-90mm zoom lens was set at about 28mm and f/3.5. The second is a six minute exposure with the same film and lens, with the lens zoomed in to 90mm. The camera was mounted piggyback on a Celestron-8. The green pattern is a tree.

The next image was shot through a 200mm F3.3 telephoto lens using the same setup as above.

Two images of Comet Hale-Bopp taken in red light (Bessell R filter) through variable clouds with a Photometrics CCD camera (Thomson 512 chip) on the DFM 0.4 m f/12 Cassegrain telescope at Limber Observatory.

The Pink Easter Egg is the inner 3 arcmin of the coma, using a color table that emphasizes the "arc" features. It is the average of four 1.5 s exposures.

The Frosty Rainbow image is the inner 5 arcmin of the coma, using a color table that emphasizes the shapes of the isophotes. It is the average of four 2 s exposures.

North is up and east is left in both pictures. The color lookup tables are part of the collection provided with the ximtool component of IRAF.

32 second exposure at f1.8 through a 50 mm lens on Fuji 800 speed film. The sky glow on the right side of the picture is from Denver. It wasn't that noticable at the lake, but the timed exposure really brought out the red portion of the light.
