It's SAP inventory time

This is the first 2004 fiscal year that the inventory process will be conducted using SAP and now is the time to start preparing. Individuals responsible for the inventory process have from April 1 through June 30 to complete the inventory process.

SAP is a paperless system-all official documentation is recorded, certified, and forwarded electronically through SAP. However, a user can printout documents for their personal use.

How the property is physically located has not changed. Every year, the inventory taker must locate the property but this year the certification of the property will be done using SAP.

What can you do to make this new process easier?
  1. Run the Incomplete Asset Report using the SAP transaction code (Z_FI_0018) by individual cost centers. This report will identify all assets that need updating and what fields need to be completed in those assets. If the incomplete asset needs to be edited or changed it can be done through the "Change Asset" transaction (AS02).
  2. Review all work instructions specific to inventory roles (found in the SAP Knowledge Warehouse).
  3. Take the web-based SAP training courses for LPOs or Inventory Takers or both if needed.
  4. Go to the SAP Training Sandbox and try to work through an active inventory.
  5. Ensure that your job role is listed as an Inventory Taker or LPO in SAP. If your are not listed, go to the SAP website on the Intranet and submit a SAP request form and include the your new job role(s).
  6. Confirm that you are assigned to the correct Cost Centers in SAP.
  7. If you do not have the SAP icon on your desktop contact the SAP Help Desk at 703.921.6000, select option 2, then option 6.

Assistance is available for any SAP transaction process, icon installation, or access issue, just contact the SAP help desk.
