Label It! Braille and Audio Strategies for Identifying Items at Home and Work by Judith M. Dixon is now available from the National Braille Press. Dixon, who is chair of the Braille Authority of North America, identifies the best labeling ideas and strategies that she and her friends have used through the years. Focusing primarily on labeling with braille, she covers the basics: clothing and accessories, medications, food containers, appliances, and miscellaneous items like postage stamps, chargers, and cables. This title--available in braille, ASCII text, Portabook, and print formats for $10--can be ordered online at www.nbp.org, by calling 800-548-7323 ext. 1, or by sending an e-mail to orders@nbp.org.
The National Clearinghouse on Disability and Exchange, which encourages
people with disabilities to learn foreign languages and pursue
international travel, recently published a new guide to help blind and
low-vision students take advantage of a broad range of foreign-language
courses from Arabic to Turkish. The brochure, "Accessing Foreign-
Language Materials as a Blind or Low Vision Student," is available
online in HTML, Microsoft Word, plain text, audio, and braille formats
