The effects of individual teaching by cartoon media toward knowledge, attitude, and practice of HIV prevention among people in slum area.

Background: People in slum area are at risk of HIV infection because of lack of health care, low education and incomeMethod: Quasi-experimental design was used to improve knowledge, attitude and practice of HIV prevention among people in slum area. Samples were 39 males and 57 females. Cartoon media, which relevant to their way of life were used as teaching aid. Result: Knowledge and attitude of HIV prevention increased after being taught by cartoon media and significant different at the.05 level. But not for practice. Conclusions: Teaching with relevant media would increase knowledge and attitude of HIV prevention. Changing risk behavior for HIV prevention needed longer time more practice.
