Statement of Significance (as of designation - October 9, 1960):
This classic New England saltbox house, with its typical long, sloping roof to the rear, central chimney, framed second-story overhang with pendants, and diamond-paned sash windows, dates from 1720 but incorporates earlier features typical of late-17th-century work. It is one of few surviving frame houses built in 17th century New England.
