  • In 2006, 46.1 percent of the persons arrested in the Nation’s cities were under the age of 25; this age group also accounted for 47.0 percent of all those arrested in cities for violent crime.
  • Nearly 29 (28.9) percent of all persons arrested for robbery were under the age of 18; 15.1 percent of persons arrested for forcible rape were also under age 18, as were 14.3 percent of those arrested for aggravated assault and 10.8 percent of those arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter.
  • Forty-three percent of all persons arrested for weapons violations (carrying, possessing, etc.) in the Nation’s cities were under the age of 21.
  • Juveniles under the age of 15 comprised 31.8 percent of all persons arrested for arson.
