A comprehensive survey of Asia's architectural heritage. You can view over 5700 photos of 404 sites in fifteen countries, with extensive background information and innovative 'virtual tours.' The Taiwan content includes architectural images from Taipei.

Center for Chinese Studies  (http://ccs.ncl.edu.tw/)
With the extensive holdings of the National Central Library as a foundation, the Center has focused its efforts on acquiring Chinese studies research materials from around the world and providing research-related services to local and foreign Sinologists. The center collects Chinese studies research materials and crates a database of prominent Sinologists. The center also publishes Chinese studies works and periodicals, holds international academic conferences and participates in overseas book shows.

Collections of useful history teaching resources, categorized by periods, geographic areas, and subjects. It also contains links to various history research institutes, full text databases and Internet discussion groups. The site is offered by Institute of History and Philosophy at Academia Sinica.

It is the leading research institute of history and philosophy in Taiwan, devoted to the study of history. Research was focused on pre-modern China, but now also extends to other time periods and areas of China as well as the history of Taiwan and other parts of the world. The site has links to full-text databases and digital collections developed by the Academia Sinia, such as the digital Oracle Bone collection and the documentation from the Grand Secretariat of the Qing government.

The scope of the Institute's research extends from the late Ming/early Qing period to the modern China. Its library holds books, periodicals, microfilms, and microfiches in Chinese, Japanese, and various Western languages. The microfilms and microfiches include Qing palace edicts (Shangyu dang) and records of activity and repose (Qiju zhu), as well as Qing genealogies, household data, and lists of successful civil exam candidates. It also houses Republican-era newspapers, government bulletins, Japanese Foreign Ministry archives, U.S. Congressional papers, archives from the British Public Archives Office, the Herbert Morrison papers, etc. Particularly noteworthy are the F.O. archives from the British Foreign Office, the most complete set of archives in the library's holdings.

Nan Fang She Qu Wen Hua Wang Lu (Southern Community Culture Network)  (http://www.esouth.org/)
This is the first grass root Taiwanese online community network. The main focus of the community includes social movement, community movement, ecological and environmental movement, minority, literature and culture. It also publishes three electronic newsletters. The articles offer first hand observations on Taiwan society and culture.

National Museum of History  (http://www.nmh.gov.tw/)
The National Museum of History collects and promotes Chinese as well as Taiwanese art and crafts. It also often has travel exhibits of cultural treasures from all over the world.

This is the official website of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States. It links with twenty two major government agencies, six academic institutions and think tanks, and four political parties in Taiwan. It is a most resourceful website.

The Taiwan pages of World Statesmen lists the historical leaders of Taiwan. It lists the heads of state and government, has images of the Taiwanese flag in different periods of history, includes maps, has the English text of the national anthem, chronology, as well as era names.

Taiwan Memory Digital Photo Museum  (http://www.sinica.edu.tw/photo/)
This museum houses a digital collection of more than 30,000 Taiwan Historical Photographs. The collection can be browsed by categories and is also searchable.
