Results of the 19th NREL Industry Growth Forum
The 19th NREL Industry Growth Forum was held on October 24–26, 2006 in Philadelphia, PA. This event united emerging clean energy technology companies from across the country with presentations to promote and enhance the success of new ventures, emerging businesses, and the growth of entrepreneurship in the clean energy sector.

2006 Venture Competition Winners
NREL recognizes and applauds the prestigious leadership of all the 19th Industry Growth Forum presenting companies. Awards were presented for the 2006 Clean Energy Entrepreneur of the Year Award as well as two Outstanding Presentation awards. NREL congratulates the following 19th Industry Growth Forum winners!
- The 2006 Clean Energy Entrepreneur of the Year Award with an award of $15,000 cash and services were presented to Plextronics, Inc.—a world leader in developing active layer technology that enables broad market commercialization of printed electronic devices.
- The two Outstanding Presentations with an award of $3,000 cash and services were awarded to Franklin Fuel Cells and co-winners Los Alamos Renewable Energy and Ze-gen Inc. Franklin Fuel Cells is commercializing a patented technology that enables electricity to be produced from fuel cells that directly use today's fuels, while Los Alamos Renewable Energy offers a novel, patented solar energy system for producing clean electricity on demand. Ze-gen produces efficient gasification systems that convert municipal solid waste (MSW) and construction and demolition waste (C&D) into clean energy.
