BULLETIN BOARD RULES
The HHS U CoP bulletin boards are a great way
to exchange ideas and discuss issues with other staff
in the Department regardless of time or physical location.
We encourage the free expression of your ideas and opinions,
as long as it is work-related, responsible, free of
insult and respectful of others.
The following conduct standards for the discussions
in on the bulletin boards have been developed and they
will be strictly enforced. The purpose of the standards
is to make sure discussions in the discussion areas
are productive and useful.
- Postings in the bulletin boards which do not conform
with the following standards will be removed without
further comment.
- No profanity or obscenities of any kind, even disguised
with * asterisks.
- No personal attacks on other HHS U CoP participants
(personal attacks are defined as comments that reflect
upon the person instead of their opinion)
- Slanderous, defamatory, obscene, indecent, lewd,
pornographic, violent, abusive, insulting, threatening
and harassing comments are not tolerated.
- Please do not stray from the discussion topic.
- Do not impersonate other participants or public
figures.
- Advertising of any kind, including non-profit organizations,
is not permitted.
- Adding copyrighted material to the bulletin boards
is not allowed.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF USERS?
Un-Registered User |
can browse information at the root
and community level and public groups, but cannot
participate in Bulletin Boards, nor access private
groups nor post content to the website. |

Registered User |
can browse information at the root
and community level and public groups, but cannot
participate in Bulletin Boards nor access private
groups nor post content to the website. Registered
users can join any community or group. If the group
is private, they must be approved by a community
or group leader. Registered users have created an
account on the website and have a username and password. |

|
Member |
Must be registered users, can browse
information at the root and community level and
public groups, can post, edit and delete their own
content to all areas of which they are members,
can participate in Bulletin Boards of which they
are members. Their content must be approved before
it actually appears on the website. |

Group Leader |
Must be registered users, can post,
edit and delete any content within their assigned
group. Group leaders can remove, manage, and create
new members in their groups. Group leaders can manage
(edit), groups of which they are a member, can view
all public groups and private groups of which they
are members, and can participate in Bulletin Boards
of which they are members. Group leaders are designated
and managed by an administrator. Content posted
by a Group leader does not need to be approved.
It becomes immediately available. |

Must be a registered user, can post,
edit and delete any content anywhere on the website,
can create, remove and manage users of any type
on the site. Administrators can create new communities,
new groups and can assign, remove and manage community/group
leaders. |
HOW DO I GET INFORMATION ADDED TO HHS UNIVERSITY?
Registered users of HHS U CoP can
add content to community and group areas that they are
members of.
Enter the Comunity or Group area that you want to add
content to. Use the Content Menu on the left side of
the page to add modify and remove your own content.
All new content is invisible until it is checked for
relevance and accuracy by the community or group leader
to which the content is posted.
WHAT TYPES OF CONTENT CAN BE ADDED TO HHS U CoP?
Using the "Add Content" option from the content
menu, you can add the following types of content: Best
Practices, Broadcasts, Featured News, General Info,
Industry Information, Laws & Regulations, Libraries,
Newsletters, Press Releases, Research, Papers, and Reports.
There are also options for "Add Event" and
"Add Weblinks". These options are available
to all HHS U CoP users.

HOW DO I GET A HHS U CoP ACCOUNT?
To register with HHS U CoP you only
need to click the link "create account" found
in the Personal Menu module in the upper left and fill
out the following form. Registering is easy and only takes
a few moments.

U CoP community areas.
COMMUNITIES
The HHS U CoP communities are based
on broad areas of interest throughout the department,
such as Human Resources and Information Technology. Each
community contains more specific areas of interest called
"groups".
Join any or all of the HHS U CoP communities
to collaborate with other HHS employees sharing the same
interests. Get news, discussion forums, and answers. Contact
the HHS U CoP webmaster about creating a
new community.
DOWNLOADING FILES
Many content pieces contain attachments which can
be retrieved (downloaded) to your computer. Attachments
are shown beneath the content piece in a box labeled "ATTACHMENTS",
and are also marked with icons for easier identification.
To download, click the title of the file next to the icon.
A window will pop-up displaying the attachment's size,
file type, and any accessibility information. You will
then be prompted to start the download process. To view
some downloads, such as PDF files, your computer may require
special software or plug-ins.
HHS U CoP merely facilitates the sharing and
distribution of files and does not provide technical assistance
in the operation of such files. Please contact your Network
Administrator if you have difficulty viewing a downloaded
file.
GROUPS
Each community contains more specific areas of interest
called "groups". These groups are moderated
by Group Managers and may be either public or private.
Join any or all of the HHS U CoP groups
to collaborate with other HHS employees sharing the same
interests. Get news, discussion forums, and information.
HYPERLINKS
HHS U CoP has many links to other organizations,
such as state/local governments, educational institutions,
and non-profit associations. While we offer these electronic
linkages for your convenience in accessing transportation-related
information, please be aware that when you exit government
websites, the privacy policy stated on our websites may
NOT be the same as that on other websites.
