Abstract:

In this talk I will discuss the MetaSim Framework developed by the Performance Modeling and Characterization Lab at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. This framework has been used to make cross-platform performance predictions for large-scale parallel applications. The MetaSim Framework is broken into 2 main components - a single processor prediction component and a communication prediction component. Each of these is created from the convolution of 2 independent pieces -- a machine profile and an application signature. A current focus of research is how to improve accuracy and reliability of the application signature for use in processor performance prediction. I'll discuss current work investigating SimPoint for this purpose.
