Modifying Reservoir Release Temperatures Using Temperature Control Curtains Reclamation has constructed four temperature control curtains to reduce release water temperature at structures in the Sacramento and Trinity River drainages in northern California. These curtains provide selective withdrawal at intake structures, control topography induced mixing, and control interfacial shear mixing associated with plunging density currents entering reservoirs. Comprehensive field monitoring has been conducted to measure curtain performance characteristics. Monitoring included continuous temperature profiling, and velocity profiling using an ADCP (acoustic Doppler current profiler). This paper presents and summarizes performance data collected near curtains in Lewiston and Whiskeytown Reservoirs.

Use of Temperature Control Curtains to Modify Reservoir Release Temperatures . This paper is similar to the one above but it has graphics that are a little easier to see.

An Overview of the Design Concept and Hydraulic Modeling of the Glen Canyon Dam Multi-Level Intake Structure. This paper was prepared and submitted for publication inASCE's Waterpower '99 conference proceedings.

Glen Canyon Dam Multi-Level Intake Structure Hydraulic Model Study. This report is the final product for the hydraulic model study of the multi-level intake structure design. This modification to Glen Canyon Dam is designed to provide selective withdrawal capability for the power plant penstock intakes. Experiences using Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) for Physical Model Calibrations. This paper was prepared and submitted for the Third International Symposium on Ecohydraulics to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 13-16, 1999.

A Laboratory Evaluation of Unidata's Starflow Doppler Flowmeter and MGD Technologies' Acoustic Doppler FlowMeter (ADFM) This report was prepared for internal Reclamation clients and describes the results of two flume tests. April 1999.

Measuring Selective Withdrawal Characteristics using an Argonaut Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter in Folsom Lake, California.   As part of a project to construct a selective withdrawal structure for a M&I water intake at Folsom Dam, the SELECT model was used to compute the near-field velocity profiled in a thermally stratified reservoir.
