Travel to Wilmington:

The Hilton Wilmington Riverside hotel is situated at 301 North Water Street and an excellent map is provided on the hotel web site (see above) to assist you if you are traveling by car.

Wilmington Airport is served by several major carriers.  For those flying directly to Wilmington, the Hilton Wilmington Riverside provides free shuttle service to and from the airport.

Raleigh-Durham Airport (2.5 hours by car), and Myrtle Beach Airport (2 hours by car) are alternatives.  Car rental will be necessary, but check with your travel agent as direct flights to these destinations may be cheaper and speedier methods of transportation.

REST AND RELAXATION:

For those who have the time to make this a family vacation, the Wilmington/Cape Fear region is an attractive tourist destination.  The Hilton hotel is situated in the heart of historic Wilmington with many tourist activities.  Several major beaches and historic sites are within easy driving distance.

For more information on the region and what it has to offer tourists, check out the web site:

                                        www.cape-fear.nc.us/index_flash.htm

GOLF:

Several participants have indicated they would like to play golf on one of the numerous, high quality courses in the area.  My colleague, Dr. Steve Leath, has graciously volunteered to assist in arranging this activity for Sunday morning May 5th.  Please contact him directly at Steven_Leath@ncsu.edu by March 25th, 2002, which is also the deadline for on-time registration.

FISHING:

Another popular activity in the area is sea fishing.  Information concerning surf fishing and boat charters in the Wilmington area can be obtained at the web site:
