This highly detailed view of the City of Paris 49.0N, 0.0E) shows a varied 
land use pattern in great detail.  Several airports are clearly seen such
as  the two major international airports of Orly and Le Bourget.  Paris was 
founded in pre-Roman times on an island in the Seine River and continued as
a  Roman outpost.  The easily defensible location was one of the keys to
growth.  Other factors include easy access by river and the productive
hinterland.
