Specific to this Data Element:
    Descriptive history:
The 128 file type contains data from the fasting sample obtained prior to administration of a hyperglycemic or hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp procedure. The coding of Card 1 deals with factors known to influence the results of the fasting level. These factors include the BLSA participant's family history of diabetes mellitus, medications and diseases known to affect the test, and technical factors that influence the results of the test.

    Data collection methodology:
    Blood chemistry.

    Related protocols:
    Other blood chemistries.

    Investigators:
    Dr. Reubin Andres (primary investigator)

    Frequency of data collection:
Data were collected in selected BLSA men from 1972 to 1981.

    Inclusion/exclusion rules:
    No exclusions.
