 The National Center on Adult Literacy/International Literacy Institute has several interesting career opportunities available. We would appreciate your assistance in identifying qualified candidates for these positions. We are particularly interested in attracting candidates with strong education experience and with diverse backgrounds/experience in cultural, minority/ethnic, and language issues.  Title: Project ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR /SENIOR RESEARCHER
 Position Length: Contingent Upon Funding

 The Literacy Research Center (combining National Center on Adult Literacy, International Literacy Institute, National Technology Laboratory for Adult Education) is now seeking an Associate Director/Senior Researcher  who would serve under the Director as the equivalent of chief operating officer (COO), responsible for research planning, implementation, evaluation and report synthesis, and program management of R&D programs, personnel, and policies for all Center activities. Specific tasks would include: strategic planning, organization and coordination of responses for project solicitation and monitoring; management of R&D activities to assure quality output on time and on budget; serving as liaison to external agencies, funding agencies, and project committees. Non-traditional work hours and travel required.  
 Qualifications: Doctoral degree (preferred) in education, social sciences or technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five to seven years R&D management experience, preferably in academic or non-profit environment. Demonstrable communication, writing skills, research/organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment required. Strong background in educational technology would be helpful, as would international work experience. Demonstrated individual initiative, as well as achievement in contract negotiation, proposal and grant writing are important. Depending on background and qualifications, an academic teaching opportunity at PENN is possible.

 Title: Project MANAGER B
 Position Length: Contingent Upon Funding

 Description: Manage and lead various professional development activities of the Literacy Research Center (combining National Center on Adult Literacy, International Literacy Institute, National Technology Laboratory for Adult Education) to ensure the development of quality, technology-mediated educational products & services. Experience in literacy, youth/adult education, applied R&D in education and/or educational technology required. Manage the development and evaluation of technology-based curriculum, software, and implementation models; provide professional development and training; and work collaboratively with research staff and in outreach activities. Assist in supervision of project staff; manage activities and timelines, ensure grant deliverables are completed.

 Additional responsibilities: (1) Assist in preparation and writing of grant/contract reports and possible new applications; (2) work with NCAL/ILI team on developing new initiatives in the broad area of literacy and adult education.
 Qualifications: M.S required in education/social sciences or related field; 3 - 5 years of experience in applied educational technology would be highly desirable; demonstrated writing, speaking & presentation skills; significant experience in using technology for instruction and delivery of adult education and/or professional development. Some travel is required.

 Title: MANAGER B
 Position Length: Contingent Upon Funding

 Duties:
 Assist Director & Project Directors at the Literacy Research Center (combining National Center on Adult Literacy, International Literacy Institute, National Technology Laboratory for Adult Education) in meeting specific contractual and grant goals within and across projects; develop strategies for appropriate scopes of work in accordance with present and future contracts and grants; plan and manage timelines and monitor progress with Project Directors; work with selected project managers on specific aspects of meeting project goals in timely manner; with Director's oversight, assist in financial analysis, monitoring, report preparation and projections on Center budgets; assist in preparation and writing of grant/contract applications (including budgets); liaison with contract/grant sponsors and university on contractual issues as needed. Some travel is required.

 Qualifications:
 BA/BS required, some graduate studies and/or Master's preferred; 3 to 5 years experience. Experience/interest in development and grantwriting a plus.
