Joint Strike Fighter

Argonne is providing a leadership role in the development of the U.S. military’s Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). By employing extensive modeling and simulation to support the development and testing of the JSF, this fifth-generation air system will provide a lethal, survivable, supportable, and affordable alternative to current military air-based applications. The use of modeling and simulation is expected to yield considerable cost savings for the program.

Argonne’s Dr. John Hummel is serving as the JSF Technical Director for Modeling and Simulation, Verification, Validation, and Accreditation. In that role, he is responsible for assisting the JSF Program Office in evaluating the modeling and simulation used in this simulation-based acquisition program.
