ACE Accomplishments: 2004
(03/05/2008)- December 11 – Pilot of ACE Secure Data Portal deployment and e-Manifest: Trucks capability began in Blaine, Washington.
- November 3 – A successful Product Definition Completion Review (PDCR) was held for the first two stages of Entry Summary, Accounts, and Revenue (ESAR) features, called “A1” and "A2."
- November 3 – A successful Project Initiation and Authorization Review (PIRA) and Product Definition Completion Review (PDCR) was held for the third stage of Screening and Targeting (S&T) Advanced Targeting capabilities, called "S3."
- November 1 – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security became a participating International Trade Data System (ITDS) member. More than 20 other federal agencies with missions tied to international trade and transportation are participating in the ITDS program.

- October 27 – Official kick-off meeting conducted for Trade Ambassadors, comprised of importers, brokers, carriers, sureties, vendors, consultants, and attorneys. The mission of the Trade Ambassadors is to provide CBP and the e-Customs Partnership (eCP) with the business perspective on ACE development, design, and implementation.
- October 4 – Louis Samenfink was named Customs and Border Protection Modernization Office (CBPMO) Executive Director.
- September 23 – ACE Ambassador certification session held, bringing the total number of Ambassadors to 111.
- September 13 – FRN Vol. 69, No. 176, FR Doc. 04-20585 invited participation of truck carriers with established ACE accounts in a pilot for truck processing features, including an electronic manifest (e-Manifest) for trucks.

- September 8 – FRN Vol. 69, No. 173, FR Doc. 04-20319 invited participation of importers and brokers with established ACE accounts in a pilot for truck processing features, including e-Manifest for trucks.

- August 25 – The pilot of periodic payment features was completed and widespread operational use among ACE participants was approved.
- July 27- Deployed Targeting Framework prototype to the National Targeting Center (NTC). The Targeting Framework is designed to capture and catalog large amounts of data from multiple sources not previously available to CBP, and then perform enhanced analysis to discover previously unknown relationships and linkages.
- July 15 – For the first time in the 215-year history of the legacy U.S. Customs Service, importers were able to obtain a statement for all entries on a monthly basis, and pay duties and fees monthly. Since July 1789, importers had paid Customs duties on their goods one entry at a time.
- June 20 – New reporting features, ledger integration, notifications, alerts, and other enhancements were added to the ACE Secure Data Portal, in addition to periodic payment pilot capabilities.
- June – Pilot of periodic payment and other account revenue features began.
- Spring – Started prototype tests of new border security technologies providing more comprehensive analysis tools to the National Targeting Center.
- May 24 – A successful Enhanced Preliminary Design Review (EPDR) was held for Screening and Targeting (S&T) Screening Foundation capabilities, called "S1."
- February 27 – A successful Product Definition Completion Review (PDCR) was held for the first stage of Screening and Targeting (S&T) capabilities, called "S1."
- February 4 – FRN Vol. 69, No. 23, FR Doc. 04-2254 invited truck carriers to establish ACE accounts.

- February 4 – FRN Vol. 69, No. 23, FR Doc. 04-2253 invited designated brokers for participating importers to establish ACE accounts and announced the pilot testing of ACE account revenue features, including electronic periodic payments and statements similar to commercial credit card systems.
