Washington, DC - Idaho Senator Mike Crapo applauded today’s announcement that leaders in Minidoka and Cassia County are taking over future use of the former J.R. Simplot potato processing facility in Heyburn with plans to create new jobs and improve the economy of the Mini-Cassia region. Crapo sent a letter congratulating Burley City Councilman Dennis Curtis, and all the local leaders in the region who are working to redevelop the 276-acre site donated by Simplot:

“Working together with the local economic development team, I am confident that your communities and this region will continue to prosper, with the reuse and development of this site,” Crapo said. “This generous donation will provide expanded opportunities to promote new business development in the region and strengthen existing business operations. I pledge my ongoing support and assistance to help you achieve your vision.”
