3 Fugitives Arrested Thanks to USVI CBP Coordination with Florida Law Enforcement

contacts for this news releaseSt. Thomas, USVI – On November 19, Customs and Border Protection officers at the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands detained three fugitives with outstanding arrest warrants in Florida.Passengers Thomas Winchester, Timothy Lemon and Raymond Tindall were traveling separately and headed for different locations in Florida when CBP officers ran system checks and discovered that they were wanted. Winchester’s warrant was for driving under the influence/failure to appear; Lemon’s violation was also DUI related and warrant was issued out of West Palm Beach, Fla., for probation violation and Tindall’s warrant was issued for felony fraud.CBP officers verified that each of the arrest warrants was valid and coordinated with CBP counterparts in Miami and Atlanta. CBP officers in Miami received Winchester upon arrival and he was turned over to Miami Dade Police for further processing and extradition. Tindall was met by CBP officers when he deplaned in Atlanta on his way to Tallahassee, Fla., and was turned over to Atlanta Police Department to complete extradition proceeding to Florida. Lemon was met by CBP officers when he deplaned in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and was arrested by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.“CBP will continue to detect and detain fugitives of the law when traveling through our ports of entry. This is a perfect example of how combining forces, CBP and local enforcement entities accomplish a common goal” said Marcelino Borges, director of field operations. “CBP officers in St. Thomas coordinated with CBP at other locations to ensure that local law enforcement personnel were aware that these violators of the law were headed their way and were arrested upon arrival.”U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry.
