AN ACT

 

REPEALING SECTIONs 41-3006.08 and 41-3006.09, Arizona Revised Statutes; AMENDING TITLE 41, CHAPTER 27, ARTICLE 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, BY ADDING SECTIONs 41-3016.01 and 41‑3016.02; RELATING TO RETIREMENT.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Repeal

Section 41-3006.08, Arizona Revised Statutes, is repealed.

Sec. 2.  Repeal

Section 41-3006.09, Arizona Revised Statutes, is repealed.

Sec. 3.  Title 41, chapter 27, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-3016.01, to read:

START_STATUTE41-3016.01.  Elected officials' retirement plan; public safety personnel retirement system; corrections officer retirement plan; termination July 1, 2016

A.  The public safety personnel retirement system fund manager terminates on July 1, 2016.

B.  Title 38, chapter 5, article 3 is repealed on January 1, 2017.

C.  Title 38, chapter 5, article 4 is repealed on January 1, 2017.

D.  Title 38, chapter 5, article 6 is repealed on January 1, 2017. END_STATUTE

Sec. 4.  Title 41, chapter 27, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-3016.02, to read:

START_STATUTE41-3016.02.  Arizona state retirement system; termination July 1, 2016

A.  The Arizona state retirement system board and director terminate on July 1, 2016.

B.  Title 38, chapter 5, articles 2 and 2.1 are repealed on January 1, 2017. END_STATUTE

Sec. 5.  Purpose

A.  Pursuant to section 41-2955, subsection B, Arizona Revised Statutes, the legislature continues the Arizona state retirement system board and director in order to manage and invest employee and employer contributions and assets and distribute retirement and long-term disability benefits to retired members of the system and plan.

B.  Pursuant to section 41-2955, subsection B, Arizona Revised Statutes, the legislature continues the public safety personnel retirement system fund manager in order to manage and invest employee and employer contributions and assets and distribute retirement benefits to retired members of the elected officials' retirement plan, the public safety personnel retirement system and the corrections officer retirement plan.

Sec. 6.  Retroactivity

Sections 1 through 4 of this act are effective retroactively to July 1, 2006.
