Summary
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was organized in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). Four series of reports were published: one in 1990 called the 'Climate Change: The IPCC Scientific Assessment', one in 1992 called 'Climate Change 1992: The Supplementary report to the IPCC ... Scientific Assessment', and a set of three reports in 1996 called '1995: The Second Assessment Report'. In 2001, the fourth series was released - The Third Assessment: Climate Change 2001: The Scientific Basis, which consists of four documents. These reports were the result of hundreds of scientists from over 25 countries to make the most authoritative and strongly supported statement on climate change ever made by the international scientific community. The Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) Summary for Policymakers was published 2 February 2007. A print version of the AR4 will be published at a later date, however a PDF version of the AR4 is available from http://ipcc-wg1.ucar.edu/wg1/wg1-report.html. The "Impacts, Adaptations, and Vulnerability" Report was published 6 April 2007. All of the Assessments are available through the IPCC: http://www.ipcc.ch/
