Seize Heroin at DFW Airport, Texas

contacts for this news releaseDallas, Texas -- A 38-year-old citizen of Ghana has been ordered held over for a detention hearing after being arrested following a seizure of heroin that was discovered in her luggage. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at Dallas Fort Worth Airport discovered over two pounds of heroin in a piece of luggage claimed by Marian Ablah Dzotzi. Dzotzi had arrived at DFW Airport on a flight from Zurich, Switzerland Tuesday, October 07, 2003. CBP officers questioned the passenger during the inspection process and noticed a discrepancy in her hand carry bag. The CBP officer probed the passenger's hand carried bag and discovered a bag of a white powdery substance, which tested as heroin. The weight of the heroin was estimated at 1 kilogram, i.e., 2.2 pounds. The subject remains incarcerated and is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing Friday, October 10, 2003. Street value of heroin is based on a number of factors including purity, distribution point, and demand for the illegal drug.
