HOUSTON—U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will support the Houston Police Department and other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies for this Tuesday’s 2004 Major League Baseball All-Star Game by providing airspace over Minute Maid Park here.

ICE will deploy aircraft and aircrews from its Air and Marine Operations (AMO) branch here to secure the restricted airspace over the stadium.

ICE aircrews will strictly enforce the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) airspace over the stadium during the follow periods:

Sunday, July 11, 5 p.m. to midnight (CDT);

Monday July 12, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. (CDT); and

Tuesday, July 13, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., (CDT)

All private or commercial aircraft in violation of these TFRs will be intercepted and escorted from the secure airspace.

ICE AMO has three core competencies: airspace security, air and marine interdiction, and air and marine law enforcement support. Each is critical to the successful execution of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) strategic goals. In the post-9/11 environment, ICE AMO has transferred its proven capabilities in drug interdiction, air space security, and law enforcement to support DHS’s challenging security missions involving counter-smuggling operations at land and sea borders, cities, and across the nation’s interior.

ICE aircrews are highly trained, skilled and experienced aviators who conduct enforcement operations daily in support of the DHS mission of protecting the public. ICE AMO aircraft that feature advanced technology and surveillance equipment.

ICE AMO has nine branches across the United States, and operates a fleet of 134 aircraft and 94 watercrafts from 41 locations. There are more than 1,000 AMO pilots and marine officers throughout the United States. The ICE Air and Marine Operations Center is located in Riverside, Calif.

ICE AMO aircrews provide around-the-clock airspace security over Washington, D.C. They have also supported other special events, including the 2002 Winter Olympics, and the 2003 and 2004 Super Bowls.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is the largest investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), responsible for the enforcement of border, economic, infrastructure and transportation security laws. ICE seeks to prevent acts of terrorism by targeting the people, money and materials that support terror and criminal networks.
