IIP Releases Electronic Journal on International Science Cooperation

New journal examines global partnerships involving space flight, clean energy

 

Science is an inherently international undertaking, driven forward by networks of researchers spanning the planet and sharing the results of their work with the world.

Sharing Science: Global Partnerships  relates the stories of many research projects that are unfolding globally. The newest eJournal USA for international audiences from the State Department Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP), released October 11, is now available online.

In this edition of eJournal USA, scientists and government officials describe collaborative efforts in pursuit of some of the great endeavors of a new century.

George Atkinson, science and technology adviser to U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, introduces the journal.

Scott Horowitz, associate administrator for the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate at NASA describes work on the International Space Station, the collaboration of several nations pursuing a shared dream for the stars.

Other contributors include Norbert Holtkamp, principal deputy director-general nominee of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Organization and ITER project construction leader; and Joseph Davila, an astrophysicist in the Heliophysics Division at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.

“Sharing Science: Global Partnerships” also includes a bibliography and an annotated listing of Internet resources.

PDF and HTML versions are available in English on the IIP Web site. The journal will be available in several other languages in the coming weeks.
