The Contractor shall furnish all labor and materials to harvest selected pine and hardwood trees from 5 areas totaling 261 acres.  All areas will be selectively thinned except for Area C which includes 14 acres to be clearcut.  Volumes are estimated to be approximately 3,721 tons of pine pulpwood, 211 tons of pine saw timber, 608 tons of pine chip-n-saw, and 100 tons of hardwood pulpwood.  Timber is considered to be of good quality for the Sumter Area, including high quality longleaf, slash, and loblolly pine.  The Contractor shall have completed harvesting operations and removed all designated timber from the sites by 31 July 2009.  The areas to be harvested are located at Poinsett Electronic Combat Range, Sumter County, South Carolina.  The Range lies between Wedgefield, SC to the north and Pinewood, SC to the south; it is bounded on the west by Hwy 261 and on the east by Hwy 120.  Within the areas to be thinned, all tress to be harvested are marked with a spot of blue or orange paint at eye level.  Within the clearcut sale area, all trees within the flagged boundary are to be cut.  You may pull the solicitation from the following site: www.esp.gov.  A site visit is scheduled on 7 January 2009.  Offeror wishing to attend the site visit shall contact Lt John Dix at 803-895-5264.  The scheduled site visit will begin at Poinsett Range, Sumter, SC at 10:00 AM.  Please call Mr. Doug Back at 803-895-9994 for more details.  Points of contact for this project are Lt John Dix at 803-895-5264, Mr. Ronald Alexander at 803-895-5347, or Mr. Doug Back at 803-895-9994.
