New ABI Enhancements Customs is happy to announce two new ABI features that should help importers and filers participating in the reconciliation prototype:
The capability in ABI for brokers to close out true 'no change' flagged entries with a reduced data requirement is now available. These are flagged entries which have no change or adjustment in reportable value at time of reconciliation. Filers are merely 'closing out flags.' This should eliminate mismatch issues with this type of reconciliation. For technical information, please see ABI administrative message 01-1152 dated 10/23/01. You may also consult the 3/13/01 Federal Register notice at Aggregate Reconciliation Entries and Reduced Data Requirements for No-Change Aggregate Reconciliation Entries.
Filers can now get assistance from ABI in determining the earliest entry summary date or import date for entries on a reconciliation. Whenever the error messages 'BRQ' (earliest import date mismatch) or 'BRR' (earliest entry summary date mismatch) is transmitted to filers, the calculated earliest import date or summary date, as applicable, will be returned in positions 52-57 of the output record.
