Corry Schiermeyer joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture in December 2007 as Deputy Director of Communications. Prior to her service at USDA, Corry was an Assistant Vice President with FD Dittus Communications, a Washington, DC public relations firm. Before joining FD Dittus, Corry spent three years at the White House, two of those years as Director of Global Communications at the National Security Council and one year as Deputy Associate Director in the White House Office of Global Communications. Corry has also served as a Presidential Advance Representative on a number of international trips for the President and Mrs. Bush.
She has experience in federal agencies, serving almost three years as Director of the Press Office at the U.S. Department of Energy. And for about one year, Corry served as acting Director of Public Affairs for the Federal Railroad Administration.
Corry is from Texas, where she worked for a number of State Officials and was a sports reporter in Dallas, spending three years covering the Dallas Cowboys. And, she spent time as a news reporter in Lubbock. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of North Texas.
