Summary
The Dry Valleys Drilling Project (DVDP) was predominately an international project between scientists from New Zealand, the US, and Japan, which drilled 14 holes in the Dry Valleys of Antarctica (especially Lake Vanda, Don Juan Pond, Lake Vida, Lake Fryxell, Lake Bonney, New Harbour, Marble Point, Lake Leon and North Fork), on Ross Island (Cape Evans, Cape Royds, Cape Barne), McMurdo Sound, ... the Walcott Glacier, and with test holes near McMurdo Station. The areas investigated have a series of independent analyses of Antarctic Geochronology, Paleoclimatology, and Paleomagnetism. For references to the results see the DVDP Bulletin Series prepared at the Dept. of Geology, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb Illinois. http://www.arf.fsu.edu/projectsDVDP.cfm Auxillary programs in the valleys that were affiliated with DVDP, included extensive geochemical studies of soils, geothermal measurements in boreholes, a hydrogeological program in the boreholes and lakes, additional lake geochemistry and a feasibility study for an earthquake seismology program.

The data and resultant publications have been lodged at The Antarctic Marine Geology Research Facility at Florida State University. Visiting scientists to the AMGRF can take advantage of a library that contains over 35 Polar related journals, numerous theses and dissertations, cruise data books, over 1,000 books on Antarctic and marine geology, an extensive Antarctic reprint collection, 1,2000 bottom photographs of Southern Ocean sites, several thousand core X-Radiographs, and an extensive Antarctic map collection. The Antarctic Marine Geology Research Facility has two types of searches available: 1) A text based search for core and/or sample data and 2) a graphical based search for core data.
