In Situ Carbon Dioxide Sensor
Yonghoon Choi tests an in situ carbon dioxide (CO2) sensor in preparation for test flights at Patrick Henry Field. Choi, the instrument's co-Principal Investigator, and the PI, Stephanie Vay will compare their in-situ measurements with total column CO2 measurements that will be made by the ASCENDS laser remote CO2 sensor. The ASCENDS mission, recommended by the National Academy of Sciences for launch between 2013 and 2016, will significantly enhance the understanding of the role of CO2, a key greenhouse gas, in the global carbon cycle.
