Promoting Trade with and Investment in the United States
October 30, 2007.
At a October 30 seminar on “Doing Business in the USA” sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Dortmund, Consul General Matt Boyse gave an overview of trends in trade and investment ties between the United States and NRW, stressing that the U.S. remains as open to commercial ties with foreign firms as ever. The CG also emphasized the importance of the “Invest in America” initiative launched in spring 2007 by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Some 25 representatives of small and medium sized businesses eager to grow their business with the U.S. participated in the seminar and discussion. The program was rounded out by presentations by Barbara Zollman, Deputy Director, German-American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest in Chicago, a Dortmund-based attorney with extensive experience in the United States, and a case study by a German small/medium sized businessman of his experiences exporting to the United States.
