Yuma Sector Agents Render Aid to Heart Attack Victim

contacts for this news releaseYuma, Ariz. - Yuma Sector agents assigned to the Interstate 8 checkpoint, provided medical aid to a woman suffering from cardiac arrest, Sunday afternoon.About 3:20 p.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to Wellton Station observed a gray SUV approaching the Interstate 8 immigration checkpoint located near Dateland, Ariz. As the vehicle stopped, agents observed that one of the passengers appeared to be non-responsive and subsequently quit breathing. Agents provided medical aid and began rescue breathing until advanced medical care arrived.At approximately 4:10 p.m., Life Flight arrived on scene and transported the victim to a Phoenix area hospital. The woman remains in critical care.Agents were commended by EMS personnel on their rapid response in stabilizing the woman on scene.U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
