Week 1 |
- Based on classroom brainstorming and group discussion, students
post a list to the COW of 5 questions
of most interest to you.

Week 2 |
- Groups select questions to research and brainstorm
possible resources and e-mails the list to the teacher. (at least
15 ideas)

- Students submit an annotated bibliography to
the COW. The bibliography consists of
5 resources with at least one Internet site and one historian,
veteran, or senior citizen (consider books, videos, local resources,
people, the Internet). For information on citations, see bibliographic citations on the Instructional
pages.

- Students choose a fiction or non-fiction book
to read over the next 4 weeks. Ideas for books to read are listed
on Project Resources. Show
the book to the teacher for approval. (You will write a book
report on this in Block 2)

Week 3 |
- Students personally interview
local people on some aspect of history. Interview help is located
on the Student Links page.(See Rubric for First Writing Assignment.)

- Students submit a typed 1 to 2 page report
based on information from the interview.

Week 4 |
- Students and groups find artifacts about your
topics/questions using local sources.Use the Internet to search
for pictures and graphics on your topic/question.Students may
also locate artifacts, pictures, and graphics to digitize with
either a scanner or a digital camera.

- Students post a list to the COW
of at least 5 local artifacts or links to Internet sites that
have graphics or pictures.
