Fort Ord Mushroom Foray and Saute Event Planned

The 11th annual Fort Ord public lands mushroom foray and sauté event will be held Sunday.

Participants should meet at the Fort Ord Thrift Shop on Lightfighter Drive off Highway 1 (first parking lot on right) at 2:30 p.m.  Phil Carpenter of the Santa Cruz Fungus Federation will be the tour leader.

"Let's hope for good shroom-growing conditions, that is rain and warmth in the five days prior to our foray. We will make three or four stops around Fort Ord and learn about the ecology and identification of mushroom species," said Bruce Delgado, BLM botanist in the Hollister Field Office.
