Agents in Texas Assist with Oil Rig Fire Agents Administer First Aid to Rig Workers

Del Rio, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Carrizo Springs, Texas station were on routine patrol when they came upon a flame engulfed oil rig.At approximately 9:50 a.m. Border Patrol agents arrived on the scene of a drilling rig that had exploded and caught fire. The agents administered first aid by applying bandages and antiseptic to two individuals involved in the fire until Dimmit County Emergency Medical Services arrived and took over the scene.Premier Drilling Rig #9 is located near Carrizo Springs, Texas. The agents on the scene did not incur any injuries.U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
