During the examination, a non-intrusive imaging system scan indicated anomalies within the trailer. Upon further examination, CBP officers, agriculture specialists and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officers discovered commercial quantities of unmanifested, undeclared and prohibited items including 3,033 pounds of Mexican white cheese and 1,065 pounds of pork.

“Our frontline officers in the cargo environment maintained their vigilance and by working together with their counterparts in FDA they were able to seize a significant quantity of prohibited pork and unmanifested cheese,” said David Higgerson, CBP Port Director, Hidalgo/Pharr Port of Entry. “Their perseverance helps prevent the potential spread of diseases and bacteria that are often carried in these food products to the U.S. population.”
