PRE-TENDER ALERT PUMPS AND VALVES

Crude Stabilization Plant in Northern Iraq Requires Pumps & Valves

Iraq’s Ministry of Oil (MoO), through the state-owned Northern Oil Company, will be issuing a tender shortly for repair work to the Kirkuk crude stabilization plant in northern Iraq. The project will entail the procurement of a sizeable quantity of pumps and valves and other critical parts, in addition to engineering design and installation services. Specifications for some of the key components appear below. The purpose of this early alert message is to encourage U.S. suppliers of the required components to express their capability and interest in responding to a forthcoming Government of Iraq tender, as well as to receive information and assistance from the MoO’s advisers in the U.S. Embassy, as well as the Commercial Service, to enable them to effectively and efficiently bid and complete a sale, should their offer be accepted. The U.S. Government will not be the procuring authority on this project.

The new stabilization plant at Kirkuk was completed in 1987 and was constructed by Mannesmann. It is comprised of four trains each capable of of processing 250,000 BBL per day, for a total throughput of 1 million BPD of crude oil. Particularly critical to the repair works will be the pumps. For that reason, at this preliminary stage of the design and planning, it will be helpful for the Iraqis and their U.S. Embassy advisors to be aware of any preferences or limitations that those component suppliers have for engineering firms qualified to install their products or maintain them.

No action should be taken regarding any solicitations without first consulting the full text of the official tender documents, which will be forthcoming.
