His NEXUS pass was revoked. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is conducting the investigation."Enrolled NEXUS participants are regarded by both U.S. and Canadian border agencies with a level of earned trust," said Peg Fearon, CBP’s Service Area Port Director in Blaine. "When that trust is broken, we make every effort to work with federal or state officials to prosecute the violator to the fullest extent of the law."Bryan Scott Johnson of Olympia, Wash. was arrested after he entered the port through a designated NEXUS lane driving a 2007 Audi A6 at about 8:45 p.m. CBP officers, during a secondary examination, discovered 124 grams of methamphetamine, 173 grams of heroin, and 61 grams of suspected PCP secreted in a box of dishwashing detergent and a box of oatmeal. The NEXUS program allows pre-screened, low-risk travelers to be processed through a dedicated lane by United States and Canadian officials at high volume border crossing locations, at NEXUS kiosks at various airports in Canada, and at certain marine reporting locations in the Great Lakes and Seattle regions. Approved applicants are issued a photo-identification/proximity card. Participants use the three modes of passage where they will present their NEXUS card and make a declaration. They are then released, unless chosen for a selective or random secondary referral.Since enrollment in the NEXUS program began in 2002, more than 65,000 travelers from both sides of the border have been registered in the Blaine area.U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry.
