Yuma Sector Agents Track Down 200 Pounds of Marijuana

contacts for this news releaseYuma, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Sector seized 200 pounds of marijuana left abandoned in a citrus grove.Yesterday at about 10:30 p.m., a Yuma sector agent observed five individuals enter the United States illegally across the Colorado River near County 13th Street. Each individual carried a bundle as they entered into a grove of citrus trees.As the agent responded to the area, the five individuals absconded back to Mexico empty handed. The agent then tracked the footprints of the subjects into the citrus groves and after a thorough search of the area, found five “backpack-style” bundles of marijuana with a total combined weight of 200 pounds.The marijuana, which has an estimated street value of $160,000.00, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
