Abstract |
In Argentine three different types of equipments to measure skid resistance are in use, and each one expresses his results with own units. During the International Experiment for harmonization and comparison of skid resistance and texture measurements carried out in 1992 under the supervision of PIARC, the IFI (International Friction Index) was defined. The principal use of this index is to express the measurements done with different devices in the same unit, then the results obtained with each one can be compared and the experiences of different administrations can be interchanged. In Argentine, to measure skid resistance Mu Meter, Griptester and TRRL Pendulum are in use. To survey texture only the volumetric technique is used. In the present paper the calibration results of different skid resistance devices respect to IFI are shown, all of them with texture results based in volumetric technique. Finally, the comparison between results obtained on different route sections with all of devices is shown. |
