Outreach
The goal of the San Diego Border Patrol Sector Community activities is to foster relationships with the public affected by our operations in order to promote a better awareness and understanding of the Border Patrol, jointly address issues and concerns, and actively participate in the communities in which we live and work.

To this end we have active community relations programs in our various offices and stations. To find out more about what we do and how to contact us, please go to the information provided on the station near you.

The Mobile Community Storefront (MCS)
The Mobile Community Storefront (MCS) is an integral part of the Good Neighbor Initiative supported by the San Diego Border Patrol Sector and consists of a 30-foot self-contained travel trailer that has been converted into a mobile command post for community relations. The trailer is stationed at different communities for several weeks at a time and is manned by two agents Tuesday through Saturday of each week. The mobility of the MCS allows the residents to speak face-to-face with an agent without having to travel an inordinate distance.

The MCS will be available Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and on Wednesday from Noon to 6:00 PM. The MCS will rotate between locations in the Potrero, Alpine, Otay Lakes, Jamul, Descanso, and the Barrett Junction regions of East County. Other locations may be added as necessary. For additional information on the MCS, contact the El Cajon Station at (619) 557-5072.

MCS Schedule: Nothing available at this time

Explorer Program
The San Diego Sector actively supports six local Explorer Posts, a non-profit program that is chartered by the Boy Scouts of America.

PRIDE
Operation PRIDE is a program offered by uniformed Border Patrol Agents of the San Diego Sector and designed to assist educators, service organizations and other groups in the community. For more information, see the Operation PRIDE page.

Alien Detention and Removals Branch
The San Diego Sector Alien Detention & Removal (ADR) Branch provides detention and transportation support to all Border Patrol operations in the San Diego area. Located at the Brown Field Airport at Otay Mesa, ADR is also responsible for the air transport of other immigrant prisoners detained within the western hemisphere. This air operation is called the Justice Prisoner Alien Transportation System (JPATS). In addition to these duty activities, ADR also is a partner in the Partners in Education Program with the Chula Vista based Greg Rogers Elementary School.

There are two community programs at Greg Rogers in which ADR participates. The first is the Adopt a School Program which conducts education related activities. These activities consist of reading to students, participating in awards ceremonies, and conducting drug awareness presentations. Several events are scheduled during the year to facilitate this partnership. These activities provide a positive role model for the young students.

The second program is the all volunteer Swim Program. The Greg Rogers school has a portion of the school population that is physically challenged. For this reason, the school has an indoor pool on site. ADR Officers, during their off duty hours, spend many hours a week guiding and helping these special children in the pool. This selfless participation by ADR Detention Officers goes a long way in making the difficult days more bearable for the children.
